The last three releases — 1.20.0, 1.20.1, and today’s 1.21.0 — focus on the things you touch every day: the files your team shares, the discussions on a task, and working from your phone.
Files: Every File of a Board in One Place
Every board now has a Files view, right next to the Dashboard. It collects everything that has been shared on the board: files uploaded straight to the board, task attachments, and files attached to comments.
- Upload with the button or by dragging files anywhere onto the view — files don’t have to belong to a task
- Switch between a grid with image thumbnails and a list with uploader, size, and date
- Group files by status, by group, or by date added (Today, Yesterday, Last week, …)
- Filter by Board uploads or Task attachments, and search by file name
- Preview images, PDFs, videos, audio, Markdown, JSON, and text files right in the app; everything else can be downloaded
- Files attached to a task link to that task, so you can jump straight to the context
Layout and grouping are remembered per board, and the view updates live when someone adds or removes a file. Uploaders and workspace admins can delete files; viewers can browse and download.
The Files view replaces the board Docs view, which has been removed. Share links that offered Docs keep their other views. The workspace Wiki is not affected — it remains the place for long-form team knowledge.
Pin and Sort Comments
Long discussions are easier to follow now:
- Pin any top-level comment to the top of a task’s thread, and unpin it with one click. Pinned comments are highlighted with a Pinned badge, visible to everyone on the board, on share links, and through the MCP server
- Sort a thread by Oldest first or Newest first. Your choice is remembered, and pinned comments always stay on top
Automations via MCP
AI assistants can now manage board automations through the TskVlo MCP server: list, view, create, update, and delete automation rules, and run a manual rule — optionally against a specific item. Rules are validated before they are saved, so a rule can only reference the fields and groups of its own board, and invalid rules are rejected with a clear error. Changes made over MCP appear in the open automation settings immediately.
A Better Mobile Experience
- The board view switcher becomes a compact dropdown on phones, and sort, density, and field options fold away behind an Options button
- Team Tasks and My Tasks get the same compact switcher, a collapsible filter toolbar, and native date, board, and status pickers
- The calendar shows a compact month grid with colored dots per day plus the selected day’s items, and the week view turns into a vertical agenda
- Settings navigation scrolls on small screens instead of cutting off entries
- Dialogs stay centered above the on-screen keyboard on Android
Also New
- In-app feedback: the Feedback button in the sidebar opens a form right inside TskVlo — give it a title and a message, and attach screenshots or other files
- Dashboard period filter: All time, Today, Week, or Quarter now filters the KPI tiles, status chart, items per assignee, and progress by group, remembered per board. The activity heatmap matches the light and dark theme
- Notifications with a link can be opened in a new tab with Ctrl/Cmd-click or a middle click — and are still marked as read
- External links in descriptions and comments open in a new tab
- Tidier item details: the dependencies, files, code, and time tabs are shown as icons with tooltips, and the reaction picker is a neat grid
- Status filter fixes: renamed statuses show up correctly in the Team Tasks and My Tasks status filter, and filtering matches exactly that status name
- The Linux desktop app shows the TskVlo icon in the title bar and taskbar
