Bulk Editing Tasks

Select multiple items in Table view and stage new field values, move, duplicate, archive, or delete them — all from the bulk edit bar docked under your table.

When you need to update many tasks at once, the bulk edit bar saves significant time. It docks to the bottom of the table and lines up with your columns, so you set each value right where it will land.

Selecting Multiple Items

In Table view:

  1. Hover over any item row — a checkbox appears on the left.
  2. Click the checkbox to select that item.
  3. Shift-click another checkbox in the same group to select the whole range in between.

To select all items on the board, click the checkbox in the column header. As soon as one item is selected, the bulk edit bar appears at the bottom of the table and shows how many items are selected.

The Bulk Edit Bar

The bar is laid out like an extra table row:

  • Left side (under the item name) — the row actions and the Apply button
  • One column per field — each sits directly under its column in the rows above, labeled with the field name

Staging field values

  1. Click the cell under the field you want to change — Status, Person, Date, Tags, Number, and so on.
  2. Pick or enter the new value, exactly as you would in a normal row. The value is staged, not saved yet.
  3. Repeat for any other fields you want to change.
  4. Click Apply. The button shows how many field changes are staged, so you know exactly what will be written to every selected item.

Changed your mind about one field? Click the small × on its cell to clear just that staged value — the others stay as they are. Files and Formula fields can’t be bulk-edited and show a dash.

Row actions

These run immediately on all selected items:

ActionWhat it does
Move to groupMove all selected items to another group of the board
DuplicateCreate a copy of each selected item
ArchiveArchive the selected items — the confirmation toast has an Undo button
DeletePermanently delete the selected items, after a confirmation dialog

Example: Closing out a sprint

  1. Filter by Sprint = “Sprint 11”.
  2. Select all items with the header checkbox.
  3. In the bar, set the Status column to Done.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Use Move to group → Archive, or Archive them directly.

Done in seconds instead of clicking each item individually.

Bulk Editing in Kanban View

Bulk selection is only available in Table view. Switch to Table view to use bulk edit, then switch back to Kanban.

Tips

  • Use filters first to narrow down to only the items you want to change — reduces the risk of accidentally updating items you didn’t intend to.
  • Prefer Archive over Delete when in doubt: archiving can be undone, deleting is permanent.
  • Bulk changes don’t trigger automation rules. If a rule should react to the new value (for example, “when Status becomes Done”), change those items individually.
  • Viewers can’t bulk edit — the bar only appears for members who can edit the board.
