Standups, invoicing, weekly reports, server checks — some work never ends. Recurring tasks let any task regenerate itself: the moment you mark it as done, TskVlo creates the next occurrence automatically.
Make a Task Recurring
- Open the task’s detail panel
- Find the Recurring setting (next to status and dependencies)
- Pick a frequency:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Custom — every N day(s), week(s), or month(s), e.g. “every 2 weeks”
That’s it. The task shows its recurrence, and the cycle starts the first time it’s completed.
How Regeneration Works
When the task’s status is set to done — whether you change it in a table cell, on a kanban card, or in the detail panel — TskVlo immediately creates the next occurrence in the same group:
- Title and description are copied as-is
- All field values are copied — assignees, tags, priority, and so on — except the status, which starts fresh so the new occurrence shows up as open work
- Date and date-range fields are shifted forward by the recurrence interval — a weekly task due Monday spawns a successor due the following Monday
- The recurrence config is carried over, so the new task will regenerate again when it’s done
The completed task stays where it is, with its comments, time entries, and history intact — your record of past occurrences.
Examples
| Task | Setting | Result |
|---|---|---|
| ”Send weekly status report” with a due date on Friday | Weekly | Completing it creates next week’s report, due next Friday |
| ”Pay office rent” due on the 1st | Monthly | Next occurrence is due on the 1st of the following month |
| ”Rotate on-call schedule” | Custom: every 2 weeks | A fresh task appears every other week as you complete the current one |
Tips
- Assignees carry over. If the same person handles the task every time, assign them once. For rotating duties, reassign on each occurrence.
- Month-end dates are handled sensibly. A monthly task due on the 31st falls on the last day of shorter months instead of skipping ahead.
- Stop the cycle anytime by setting the recurrence back to Not recurring before completing the task.
